Order Policies and Warranty Details

Order Confirmations

Order confirmations are necessary to make sure that you will receive your order correctly. They also serve as a final way of double checking for inaccuracies. The order confirmation will contain all order information and will have an approximate completion date. To avoid any costly remakes or time delays, please review these descriptions carefully. The customers signed or emailed confirmation is verification that the order has been thoroughly reviewed by them, and that they and they alone are responsible for its accuracy; whether inputted by their company or the staff of Mid Michigan Wood Specialties. Any expense incurred because of the inaccuracy of an order, will be the sole responsibility of the customer and not that of Mid Michigan Wood Specialties.

Lead Times & Expedited Orders

Typical lead times run approximately 10 working days. This can vary upon current production workload. If you need your order expedited, orders will be subjected to a 30%-50% upcharge which will be determined at the time of ordering. Not all orders can be expedited due to size, complexity, or our current workload at the time. However, we will do everything we can to accommodate your needs. An expedited order does not in any way indicate the need for expedited shipping. The customer must indicate the shipping method and speed at the time of ordering.

Product Warranty

All of our products are guaranteed to the original purchaser, to be free from defects in material and workmanship for one year from date of shipment. Tolerance for warpage on doors will be 1/8” from diagonal corners; size tolerance on doors and drawers +/- 1/32”. Doors taller than 48” or wider than 30” without divider rails shall carry no warranty.

Warranty applies to the product being maintained in a controlled indoor environment, and cannot exceed the purchase price.

Warranty will not cover any installation or removal, labor or travel time of any kind, nor any finishing labor for replaced items.

We recommend ordering all products you will need to complete your project at one time in an effort to maintain continuity in color, grain, character and finish.

Wood Variation & Natural Characteristics

Your products will have the same basic appearance as any sample purchased from MMWS, however, they may be uniquely and perhaps noticeably different. The natural aging or darkening of wood color and the inherent growth characteristics of wood will create variation. We believe this is the beauty of nature and not a defect.

No warranty on any product that will be in near proximity of grills, smoke, fireplaces or candles. Prolonged exposure to natural or artificial light and/or moisture may alter the finish color as well.

MMWS does not consider natural characteristics in wood (burls, grain patterns, pin knots, mineral, sap, etc.) to be defects.

Due to the natural characteristics of wood, it is impossible to warrant product to be free of cracks, splits, warps or discoloring if stored 2 weeks beyond the date received without properly sealing and/or top coating. MMWS recommends finishing all surface areas immediately upon receipt.

Some species, particularly Cherry, Walnut and Mahogany, will darken naturally with age. MMWS will not be liable for product with any change in appearance, finished or unfinished, due to the aging process or natural photosensitive darkening processes. MMWS advises that you finish these products immediately upon receiving.

Environmental Conditions & Product Care

The natural process of wood expanding and contracting can create visible hairline open joints. This is not a warranted item. An open joint line is not considered a defect and it is widely accepted in the industry. The structural integrity of the joint will not be affected and finishes will only help to protect the surface.

Wood products expand and contract; thus, tolerances have been engineered into all of our wood products which provide an allowance for normal movement in a controlled indoor environment. Stile and rail joints on wood products may open slightly during the yearly heating and cooling cycle and this movement is normal.

Warranty cannot apply to product damaged by misuse, neglect, abuse, natural phenomenon, exposure to moisture or extreme temperatures, exposure to abrasive chemicals, solvents, extreme ultraviolet light, effects of normal wear and tear, products modified in any way, improperly installed, damaged prior to, or during, the installation or installed or utilized in other than normal residential applications.

Storing products in direct contact with moisture can cause expansion of component parts that is far greater than engineered ranges would normally allow. This expansion can force joints to open and cause permanent joint failure in wood products. We recommend that all wood products be kept in a controlled environment throughout the year where the relative humidity level is maintained between 30-40% at all times.

Installation & Handling

MMWS will not warrant any defects that could have been prevented by the customer, such as improper surface prep for a product that is to be finished.

MMWS will not be liable for damage done to product due to improper handling and cleaning.

MMWS will not warrant any defects due to modification, alteration or service performed by anyone other than our production team.

Shipping

From time to time we may recommend, because of the complexity or delicate nature of the product, for it to be shipped freight instead of common carrier. The customer will be liable and bears sole responsibility for the cost of remakes and/or any replacement of component parts due to shipping damage if the customer denies the recommended shipment method.

Solid Wood Panels & Large Product Sizes

Due to the inherent expansion and contraction of wood, any product with a solid wood glued up panel, where the individual panel measures more than 24" [609.6mm] across the grain or 48" [1219.2mm] measured with the grain, will carry no warranty. This includes, but is not limited to: Raised panel doors, Slab and batten doors, Wainscot panels, Appliance panels, Glued up panels, and Center panels only.

Because individual staves within a solid wood glued up panel will naturally continue to expand and contract, lines may appear and offsets may develop from one stave to another. These are not considered to be a defect. We will not warrant a product if the application material (stain, glaze, or other) either hinders or does not allow for expansion and contraction. This is also applicable for the appearance of ‘glue lines’ in solid panel painted doors on finished product. THERE SHALL BE NO WARRANTY ON SOLID PANEL DOORS THAT WILL BE PAINTED.

Any product with solid wood glued up components, in which the overall product measures more than 72" [1828.8mm] with the grain (with or without a center stile or center rail), will carry no warranty against bowing.

Adding a center stile or center rail in doors that measure more than 48" [1219.2mm] with the grain will add stability and minimize bowing.

We will not warrant a product if the application material (stain, glaze, or other) either hinders or does not allow for expansion and contraction. This is also applicable for the appearance of ‘glue lines’ in solid panel painted doors on finished product.
